The Roots of Czechoslovakia

After frequent and intense negotiations about co-existence of two equal nations in a common state, the Czechoslovak Federal Republic (CSFR) was peacefully dissolved on December 31, 1992. After living together for 69 years, a divorce came. Czechs and Slovaks shared many ups and downs throughout modern history, and the split surprised many. But was it really a surprise?
