The Doppler Group is selling its fuel business, Turmöl, consisting of 266 petrol stations in Austria, to Polish oil company, Orlen. However, Doppler will retain ownership of the real estate, leasing the land and buildings to Orlen. Doppler Group’s owner, Franz Josef Doppler, described Orlen as a long-sought “strategic partner”. While the purchase price is undisclosed, the transaction, subject to regulatory approval, is expected to complete by early 2024. The deal includes the Turmgas, Turmstrom brands, and the Austrocard fuel card. Not part of the sale, Doppler Group will retain its liquid gas, logistics businesses, and calibration center, with plans to expand its liquid gas business. Approximately 520 of Doppler Group’s 620 employees will transition to Orlen, with no job losses expected. Orlen is anticipated to continue operating the stations under the “Turmöl” brand.
