“Via Baltica” is a major highway project in Lithuania. The plan is to expand and improve the existing road by constructing a four-lane highway from Kaunas to the Latvian border. The project aims to enhance transportation and connectivity with other Baltic countries and Europe. The reconstruction of sections A8 and A10 is also part of the plan. The goal is to complete the project by the 2030s, ensuring safer and more efficient travel. The Ministry of Transport will initiate the necessary procedures, including land acquisition and preparation of territorial planning documents. The European highway E67, known as Via Baltica, is an essential road connecting various cities in the region. In Lithuania, Via Baltica covers a distance of 269 km.
