CNN ekspert, Former NATO official and current professor at the University of Exeter in the UK, Jamie Shea, suggest that Poland is on the verge of becoming Europe’s next military powerhouse, given its ongoing weapons procurement plans. If executed, Poland could surpass France, Germany, Italy, and the UK in tank capacity. Following Russia’s 2014 Crimea annexation, Poland bolstered its defense strategies, pouring billions into state-of-the-art military hardware and solidifying its support for Ukraine amidst Russian hostilities. This military prowess was evident during the August 15th parade, perceived by many as a clear signal to Russia and Belarus. Furthermore, Poland’s commitment to defense is evident in its increased spending from below 2% GDP in 2014 to 4% currently, with over half focused on innovation and new equipment. This bolstered role, especially as an equipment provider to Ukraine, also heightens its vulnerability to potential threats. Even with EU tensions related to governance and immigration issues, Poland underscores its pivotal role in the European military landscape.
