Better-Than-Expected financial results of Slovak Nafta in 2022

Short-term gas storage services brought majority of company’s post-tax €200m profit.

/

Nafta, a Slovak company specializing in gas storage, surpassed profit expectations in 2022. It generated a post-tax profit of 200 million euros. The majority of its profit came from providing warehousing services to foreign clients. Nafta’s success can be attributed to its strategic focus on short-term storage services, which experienced heightened demand due to market volatility. This, in turn, played a role in stabilizing the European gas market.

Additionally, Nafta made a significant discovery in Slovakia—a new site for natural gas extraction holding reserves of up to 50 million cubic meters. The company actively participated in the HENRI (Hydrogen Energy Reservoir) pilot project and obtained IPCEI status for its hydrogen project in July 2022. Nafta is also engaged in various other hydrogen initiatives throughout Europe. As an international enterprise, Nafta operates across multiple countries including Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Germany, Great Britain, Austria, and Ukraine. Its operations encompass underground gas storage, exploration, production of hydrocarbons, and involvement in renewable energy storage projects.
