Romania has launched the European Institute for Sustainable Development in Poland to encourage the transfer of international expertise and support the application of sustainability principles in public policies. The institute will partner with academia, businesses, local authorities, and civil society to advance environmental protection, circular economy, climate change mitigation, and broader sustainability goals. It will also raise awareness of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and promote effective local-level actions towards their implementation. The initiative is jointly founded by the Romanian Association for Sustainable Local Development, the European Resource Center for Sustainability, and the Polish-Romanian Society from Krakow. The institute recently held an International Conference in Wieliczka, Poland, discussing the future of local communities and sustainability, and inaugurated awards recognizing efforts towards promoting and implementing the SDGs.
