Poland’s Tri-City and Świnoujście cargo ports are drawing significant investments. Wallenius Marine, a Scandinavian shipowner, plans new cargo routes from Tri-City to Sweden’s central ports. With the Swedish Greencarrier Group, they’ve initiated Lakeway Link to move semi-trailers on eco-friendly vessels from Polish ports. This aims to cut truck traffic and reach remote Swedish ports like Vasteras via the Baltic Sea and Lake Mälaren. A sea-to-rail agreement was formed earlier between Venice and Świnoujście ports. Infrastructure upgrades at Świnoujście, including a Belgian-Qatari-backed deep-water terminal, promise intermodal freight movement. Despite reduced ferry freight in Poland last year, profits rose, signaling solid investment prospects and potential for carbon footprint reduction.
