Waldemar Buda, Poland’s Minister of Development and Technology, announced a forthcoming agreement with the European Space Agency (ESA) that will provide Polish space sector companies with contracts and funding for development. He hopes the agreement will be reached within weeks. In an interview, Buda revealed plans to discuss the participation of a Polish astronaut in a space mission with the head of ESA. The minister emphasized the broader gains expected from the agreement with ESA. He pointed out that every zloty invested in the space industry yields a return of 6-7 zloty. He also confirmed the involvement of NASA, implying American acceptance of the agreement. The mission, potentially featuring Polish astronaut Sławosz Uznański, is scheduled for 2024, and discussions are based on increasing Poland’s ESA contribution by several hundred million euros.
