Canada will double its troop presence in Latvia as part of a CAD 2.6 billion program, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau confirmed on July 10th. The increase aims to support democracy and rule of law, particularly following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The boosted troops will form a brigade, set to reach full combat readiness by 2026. Trudeau underscored Canada’s commitment to peace and security in Europe.
