Tourist Season Boosts Croatian Bank Deposits in June

Deposits in Croatian banks increased by 600 million euros.

/

In June, deposits in Croatian banks increased by 600 million euros, mainly due to the tourist season’s start and foreign euro inflows. Overnight deposits grew, while fixed-term savings remained stagnant. Year-on-year deposit growth slowed to 5.8 percent. Credit activity continued at a similar pace, with household credit driving the increase. Housing loans only saw a modest rise despite government subsidies, while unsecured cash loans grew slower due to a judicial officials’ strike affecting housing credit subsidies. Overall, total loan growth decelerated to 9.2 percent in June, according to the Croatian National Bank’s analysis.
