Jabil, a U.S.-based firm, has initiated the development of a significant manufacturing site in Nemetin, an industrial sector of Osijek, Croatia. Slated for completion in July 2024, this project stands as Croatia’s most substantial private venture post-independence and is anticipated to introduce 1500 new employment opportunities. Mayor Ivan Radić of Osijek highlighted the proactive measures, collaborations, and incentives, like utility fee waivers, that the city adopted to facilitate this investment. Further cementing its investor-friendly stance, the city combined nine industrial zone parcels into a sprawling 170,000 sq.m. space for Jabil. Radić is optimistic about attracting more global investors to Osijek. Meanwhile, Ivan Anušić, the regional Prefect, views this collaboration as a testament to the region’s stability and eagerness for international partnerships. He mentioned the county’s educational institutions will adjust their curricula to cater to Jabil’s operational requirements and provide re-skilling opportunities for those unemployed. With Jabil’s prominent global footprint, encompassing 100 locations and 260,000 staff, this project heralds a new economic dawn for Osijek and the broader region.
