The 2023 Global Startup Ecosystem (GSE) Report identifies Estonia as a significant player in the global tech scene, having ascended 28 ranks to the 10th position among burgeoning ecosystems. Surpassed only by Turkey and Spain, it is now the third fastest-growing tech hub. Despite geopolitical and economic headwinds, Europe experienced substantial tech sector growth in 2022. Major startup hubs include London, Berlin, Amsterdam, Paris, and Stockholm. The top global ecosystems remain Silicon Valley, New York, and London, with Silicon Valley experiencing a decline. China’s growth has slowed due to restrictions, while India thrives due to robust governmental support. European nations have taken strides in 2022 to cultivate startups and draw talent. Local adaptation programs like Estonia’s Work in Estonia portal are gaining importance. Startup Estonia has been crucial in developing the national startup ecosystem. As per the report, deep tech is becoming a primary catalyst for ecosystem growth.
